Earthquake Relief in Paktika and and Khost Provinces

Human First Coalition aid by the numbers

  • 2 mobile ambulance teams dispatched to villages

  • 2 female doctors dispatched to clinics to treat female patients

  • 3 months on the ground presence in Paktika and Paktia

  • 3 clinics operated

  • 7 villages provided with clean water

  • 80-110 patients treated in each clinic per day

  • 100,000 meals, provided by a partner organization, distributed to families in need

In June of 2022, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit Eastern Afghanistan and wreaked havoc on Paktika and Khost provinces.

In response, Human First Coalition pulled together a team operating on-the-ground, and was able to establish three clinics, of which each had two doctors and a support staff of five.

Upon arrival of our Teams in Paktika, we came to find out that no female doctors were available in the region. Due to restrictions imposed by the Taliban, aid organizations, including the WHO, were not able to provide much needed help to women who were trapped under the rubble and in urgent need for medical care.

Human First Coalition immediately sourced two female doctors from Kabul, and equipped one clinic with all-female staff so Taliban would allow women in need to receive treatment. Additionally, we setup remote “Human First Coalition ambulances” with female staff, to reach women in need within a larger perimeter.

While our clinics treated on average 80-110 patients per day, our non-medical team provided clean water to villages otherwise cut-off from support, and distributed over 100,000 meals, donated by a partner organization, to families in need.

Our operations started on June 23rd, and lasted until the end of September 2022.
